Boeing B-47 Stratojet
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Boeing Model 450 B-47 Stratojet was a long-range, six-engined, jet-powered medium bomber built to fly at high subsonic speeds and at high altitudes. It was primarily designed to drop nuclear bombs on the Soviet Union. With its engines carried in pods under the swept wing, the B-47 was a major innovation in post-World War II combat jet design, and helped lead to modern jet airliners.

The B-47 entered service with the United States Air Force’s Strategic Air Command (SAC) in 1951. It never saw combat as a bomber, but was a mainstay of SAC’s bomber strength during the 1950s and early 1960s, and remained in use as a bomber until 1965. It was also adapted to a number of other missions, including photo reconnaissance, electronic intelligence and weather reconnaissance, remaining in service as a reconnaissance platform until 1969 and as a testbed until 1977.

The U.S. Air Force Blue
Composed by Scott-Textor Arranged by SMSgt Tom Dossett

Central to the United States Air Force being the world’s most respected air power is the quality and professionalism of the people who make up this arm of America’s defense. That is why, from its very inception, the Air Force has insisted on recruiting and retaining only the best and brightest for both its enlisted and officer corps.

Composed as part of this ongoing effort, The U.S. Air Force Blue was written as a recruiting song in the late 1950′s. Its popularity was such that it literally saturated the country. In fact, soon after appearing, it became part of an effort to replace “The U.S. Air Force Song” as the official service song. Though unsuccessful, the popularity of the song remains and it is performed regularly by various units of The U.S. Air Force Band.

The words, music and this arrangement of U.S. Air Force Blue have been purchased outright by the United States Air Force and are in the public domain.
Alternate Song: U.S. Air Force Blue

They took the blue from the skies and a pretty girl’s eyes
and a touch of Old Glory’s hue,
And gave it to the men who proudly wear the U.S. Air Force blue.
The U.S. Air Force Blue!
Oh, they are men with a dream on America’s team,
They’re a rugged and ready crew.
And you can bet your boots the world looks up to U.S. Air Force Blue.
To U.S. Air Force Blue!
They know where they’re goin’, they’ve set their course,
the sky’s no limit in the Air Force.
They took the blue from the skies and a pretty girl’s eyes
and a touch of Old Glory’s hue,
And gave it to the men who proudly wear the U.S. Air Force Blue.
And you can wear it too! The U.S… Air Force… Blue!
